"The Path of a Steel Ball" - Original Photograph with the pictured Model Train

Original photograph showing "the path of a steel ball ejected vertically from a moving object," by the important and influential American photographer, together with the original model train used in the photograph, a copy of Berenice Abbott: Documenting Science, in which the photograph is reproduced, and a notarized letter describing the provenance of the model train which belonged to J. Eric Little, a young relative of the MIT physicist Dr. Elbert Little who assisted Abbott with the project. Gelatin silver print photograph signed at the lower right on the photographer's mount, stamped by the photographer on the verso mount. The photograph has been professionally restored, with surface losses inpainted and the gloss immediately around those areas adjusted to more closely resemble the gloss of the original. 19.25 x 9 inches, mount and frame 30 x 24 inches.  Read More...

Some very light silvering; overall in very fine condition. Each 9.25 x 7.25 inches (24.3 x 19 cm), matted to 14 x 11 inches (35.5 x 28 cm). From the series published in Berenice Abbott: Documenting Science, printed by the photographer and given originally to MIT physicist Dr. Elbert Little who assisted with the project, subsequently obtained from his family.  Read More...

Each print initialed lower right. Each with surface creasing to the upper left quarter and to a lesser degree, center left, else fine. Collection of Early American Tintypes

A collection of 23 small tintype portrait photographs, dating from ca. 1860-1880 and housed in a blue cloth-covered box. The portraits depict adults and children, apparently of various social classes; most are individual portraits, with two photographs of pairs. Several are duplicates or close duplicates. 16 of the tintypes are mounted in identical small pink card frames. One larger tintype, a three-quarter-length portrait of a man, is unmounted. Also included is one small later photograph, clipped to size. Light wear and scratches, some foxing and creases to the mounts; overall in very good condition. Each tintype ca. 1 x 1.5 inches (2.5 x 3.5 cm); mounts 1.75 x 2.5 inches (4.2 x 6.6 cm); larger tintype 2.5 x 3.25 inches (6 x 8.5 cm). In a blue cloth-covered cosmetic box with snap closure, with the logo of cosmetic company Palmer and their product name Gardenglo stamped in gold inside the lid. Two anatomical engravings by J. G. Seiller, showing a standing male figure whose major muscles are made visible and labeled with their Latin name, each figure oriented in relation to a tree. The engravings numbered "Tab. VI" and "Tab VII" at the upper right. The first shows the figure turned to the left, with one arm raised, and with a framed image at the left showing details of internal organs; the second shows the figure from behind, with a framed image showing a hand and leaves.
